What will you learn?

Chinese Medicine is a rapidly expanding profession and an obvious growth area for integrated and interdisciplinary professional training. Compare with Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine treatment and chinese herbs are more natural and less of chemical content. It provides another choice for human being to treat diseases.

The Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Hons) programme aims to produce Chinese Medicine practitioners who possess in-depth knowledge Chinese Medicine’s unique principles, diagnosis and treatment employing acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine and other therapeutic approaches, as well as western medical sciences and diagnosis.

The programme has a diversified curriculum with 60% on Chinese Medicine and 30% on Western Medicine. Students will be equiped with a strong foundation in the principles, theories and practices of chinese materia medica, acupuncture and ‘Tui-Na’(massage).

 

Eligibility:

STPM (Science Stream) with CGPA 2.50 and Principal passes in any 2 Science subjects or STPM (non-Science Stream) with CGPA 2.50 and Principal passes in any 2 subjects as well as SPM credits in any 2 Science subjects

OR

A-Level in 2 Science subjects and CGPA 2.50

OR

South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in 2 Science subjects

OR

Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with an average of 70% in 6 subjects including 2 Science subjects

OR

Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with Grade B in 5 subjects including 2 Science subjects

OR

Foundation in Science from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman with CGPA 2.50

OR

Foundation from Institutions of Higher Learning with CGPA 2.50 including 2 Science subjects in the relevant field

OR

Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education with CGPA 2.50 including 2 Science subjects

OR

Diploma from Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with CGPA 2.50

OR

Diploma from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) in the relevant field with CGPA 2.50

OR

Diploma in Traditional and Complementary Medicine from recognised Institutions or equivalent with CGPA 2.50 or CGPA 2.00 with 2 years of relevant working experience

OR

Diploma with CGPA 2.50 from Institutions recognised by the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Board

OR

Bachelor Honours degree with CGPA 2.50 in any discipline from Institutions of Higher Learning

OR

Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government

Career prospects:

The combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, clinical experience and recognised qualifications will prepare you for a career in Chinese Medicine which may include independent practice, employment in a multidisplinary healthcare clinic, teaching and research. A degree in Chinese Medicine is excellent preparation for careers in: • Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist, Chinese Medical Massage Therapists - In Chinese Medicine Department in a government or private hospital - In Chinese Medicine Hospital - In Chinese Medicine Clinic - Consultant in the healthcare field • Chinese Medicine managing staff • Chinese herbalist • A member in the sale and marketing of Chinese Medicine products • Chinese healthcare products development or marketing staff • Chinese Medicine educator • Researcher in an academic institution or herbal or pharmaceutical manufacturing company
