What will you learn?

The programme was established to fulfill societal and market demand on physiotherapy profession. We aim to provide the educational experience, practical training and technical competence necessary for the practice of physiotherapy. We will produce graduate physiotherapists, who are professionally competent and able to demonstrate good ethical judgement and compassion in the treatment of patients. Our graduates will be trained to develop good communication skills, critical thinking, leadership quality, the ability to make independent clinical decision, and to engage in continual professional development as part of life-long learning.  

 

Eligibility:

STPM with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and SPM credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORA-Level with grade C in Biology and Chemistry and SPM/equivalent credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORScience Matriculation, Ministry of Education with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and SPM credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORFoundation in Science, UTAR with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and SPM/equivalent credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORFoundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and SPM/equivalent credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORSouth Australian Matriculation (SAM) with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in Biology and Chemistry and SPM/equivalent credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORCanadian Pre-University (CPU) with an average of 70% in 6 subjects including Biology and Chemistry and SPM/equivalent credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and PhysicsORUnified Examination Certificate (UEC) with Grade B in 5 subjects including Biology and ChemistryORDiploma in Science from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) / Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.75ORDiploma in Science from Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with minimum of 3 years of working experienceOROther equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian GovernmentANDMUET Band 3/IELTS Band 5.5/TOEFL score of 550 (not applicable for qualifications conducted fully in English language)

Career prospects:

UTAR graduates will help alleviate the current national shortage of qualified graduate physiotherapist, and be the trainers for future generation of physiotherapists. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association (MPA). Graduates can expect to find employment in various health sectors, both public and private: Hospitals Hospices Nursing homes Geriatric care centres Physiotherapy clinic Community settings Health/fitness/sports clubs Education institutions and research Graduates may also apply for postgraduate education locally or internationally at institutes of higher education.
