What will you learn?

The MPP was first introduced in 2005 by INPUMA, University of Malaya. It is a comprehensive postgraduate programme that integrates public policy formulation, analysis, evaluation and management.

Core and elective courses provide student with in-depth knowledge of current national, regional and international policy issues. Through intensive coursework and interaction with academicians and practitioners, MPP students can gain awareness of the political environment in which policy decisions are made. They are able to develop an understanding of the effects that the decisions have on individuals, businesses, communities and governments.

The curriculum has undergone several stages of refinement by practicing officials from both,the public and private sectors as well as prominent local and international scholars. The programme is designed to be relevant, flexible and practical in order to meet the current demands.

Discussions, presentations and teamwork are some of distinctive features of the programme. Students are also expected to acquire real work experience by participating in internship and externship programmes.

 

Eligibility:

• National Higher School Certificate (or an Advanced Level equivalent) with the grade 80% and above

Or

• A Diploma from recognized Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00.

• Applicant may be required to undergo an interview session for certain selection program before being accepted by the respective faculty.

 Students are required to enrol in the Malay Language Program prior to being conferred a degree.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Students must obtain:

• TOEFL score of 500 (PBT), 173 (CBT) or 60 (IBT) and above

Or

• IELTS Band 5.0 - 6.5 and above

Or

• Pass in any equivalent English proficiency test approved and recognized by the University of Malaya.

Career prospects:

These roles include advocacy and government relations roles, but also more traditional Master of Business Administration roles like marketing, communications, public relations, consulting, and program analysis and management.
