What will you learn?

The Master of Human Resource Management course advances the skills and knowledge in human resource management of officers working in the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) departments and government agencies. The MHRM course is developed specifically to enhance transformation and Innovation initiatives of SCS10-20 Action Plan.

 

Eligibility:

Applicants should have completed an appropriate undergraduate qualification at a credit level (CGPA 2.5, GMAT 550 or equivalent) from a recognised academic institution

English language requirements

English Language proficiency consistent with Swinburne policies for admission of officers to post-graduate courses will be required for entry into the course.

Potential officers must produce evidence of an advanced level of proficiency in written and spoken English. This can be evidence through one of the following:

  • IELTS Band 6.5 (no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based)
  • A credit or above on Swinburne Sarawak Versant English Placement Test

Versant English Placement Test can be used by applicants as the English entry requirement:

  • Candidate needs to score at least 70% to be admitted to the course
  • Candidates with 60-69% will be required to join a 10-week module on Intensive English (Advanced level) and score at least 65% in the module in order to be admitted to the course

Officers who score a pass grade in only the Versant English Placement Test are required to take Intensive English Level 6, Postgraduate Officers. Officers who successfully complete this intensive English course (IE6) and achieve a pass grade (equivalent to IELTS 6.5) or above may progress directly to their postgraduate course.

The Intensive English Level 6 English for Postgraduate Officers is equivalent in outcome to Swinburne College’s Melbourne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or IELTS 6.5. It consists of a total of 250 learning hours (12 contact hours per week plus 13 hours of e-learning and self-directed learning). This course is designed to prepare mature officers for direct entry to postgraduate courses at Swinburne Sarawak. It focuses on the English language, critical thinking and academic literacy skills required to their course.
