

This programme aims to investigate the use of spoken, written or multimodal forms of communication; relationships between elements within a language; or relationships between language, agency and social contexts. Research in this field employs various approaches, such as linguistic and critical linguistic approaches, critical discourse analysis, genre study and ethnomethodology.
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of at least 3.00 or equivalent in related fields (based on proposal presented during the application process).
- Applicants with CGPA of below 3.00 but not less than 2.75 in relevant fields, can be considered for entry into the programme based on work experience of at least 1 year or related academic publications.
- Applicants who do not hold a Major or Minor qualification in relevant fields but possesses a CGPA of 3.20, can be considered conditionally with the approval of the Faculty.
English Language Requirement
International applicants for this field of study must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or IELTS Band 6.
