Diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts offers a broad array of baking and pastry theory, and practical knowledge essential to anyone seeking a career as a Pastry Chef, Head Chef or Baker. If you would like to elevate your love of pastry baking skills to a professional level, this diploma is definitely for you.

In this programme, you will learn the skills of preparing pastries and cakes, pies and other baked goods using a variety of dough, icings, fillings, and other ingredients used in pastry making.

With a perfect balance of lectures and hands-on kitchen experiences, this programme will train you to become well poised to move directly into employment.

 

Eligibility:

For International Students

To apply for this course you need to clear any of the following eligibility requirements:

Foundation:

SPM – at least 2 principal passes or equivalent with CGPA 2.0

O-Levels – at least 5Bs

Other Qualifications – Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

English proficiency with either 500 in TOEFL or with a minimum score of 5 in IELTS, OR its equivalent.

 

Diploma and Bachelors:

Foundation – CGPA 2.00 or pass overall

Other equivalent qualification – CGPA 2.00 or pass 

Other equivalent foreign qualification – Pre-university, Year 12 CGPA 2.00 or pass

 

SPM/SPMV with 3 credits

UEC with minimum Grade B in 3 subjects

O-Levels with minimum Grade C in 3 subjects

SKM Level 3

Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Ministry of Education

Students who do not meet their entry requirements but have a significant amount of related work experience may also apply.

 

For Engineering:

A-Level -2 principal passes in Maths & Physics

STPM – 2 principal passes in Maths & Physics

UEC / SM3 – including Maths & Physics

SAM – 65% including a pass in Maths & Physics 

CPU – 65% overall including Maths & Physics 

Other Qualifications – Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Masters:

Recognised Bachelor’s Degree its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.5, OR

English Language Requirement:

English proficiency with either 500 in TOEFL or with a minimum score of 5 in IELTS, OR its equivalent.

Ph.D. :

 

English proficiency with either 600 in TOEFL or with a minimum score of 6 in IELTS; or

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with a first class honours; or

Completed Master’s at SEGi University; or

Master’s degree in a relevant field of study; or

Any equivalent qualification in a related field of study recognised by the Malaysian government and University’s Senate Compulsory modules to be taken (altogether 7 credit hours, but do not carry credits in PhD.

However, the students must pass all before the research work begins) -MSCE1131 Advanced Research Methods and Design (Sem 1 Year 1) -PE1241 Research Proposal and Seminar (Sem 2 Year 1)

Course Details:

Core areas of emphasis:

Pastries and cakes, pies and other baked goods using a variety of dough, icings, fillings, and other ingredients main kitchen work.

 

Career prospects:

Graduates are able to seek entry level employment in the baking and pastry arts field such as baker, caterer, chocolatier, culinary artist, pastry chef or prep cook.

 

Scholarships for Post-graduate studies:

MERIT scholarship (not applicable for Health Sciences programmes) for Performing International students - those who achieve GPA3.75 in the semester will get the waiver of the entire semester tuition fee.
